  1. Emptying out the pellet hopper to prevent any water or cleaner from coming into contact with anything that could potentially contaminate your future cooking.
  2. Temporarily store the pellets in a clean bucket so they can be added back to the hopper when finished.
  3. Cover hopper with plastic - To prevent any moisture from entering the pellet hopper area
  4. Removing all cooking grates, racks, drip trays and heat diffuser plates from inside the grill
  5. Pre-treat all cooking grates, racks, drip trays and heat diffuser plates with a professional oven cleaner/grease remover.
  6. Scraping all interior surfaces to remove creosote and grease buildup
  7. Remove chimney and chimney components to soak and scrape as well.
  8. Cleaning of the interior temperature probe to prevent bad readings
  9. Vacuuming all pellet dust and excess debris caused from scraping interior out of the bottom of the pellet smoker. Will also vacuum all old pellet debris from the pellet burn cup that builds up around the heat ignition source.
  10. Blow out any dust or debris from the air induction fans.
  11. Use a food safe cleaning mixture to spray and wipe down the interior surfaces of the pellet smoker after all vacuuming is done.
  12. Scrub, Wash and Rinse the cooking grates, racks, dip trays, and heat diffuser plates.
  13. Dry all components before reinstalling
  14. Reinstall cooking grates, racks, drip trays, and heat diffuser plates.
  15. Give the interior cooking area a light spray of vegetable oil to pre-season and prevent any potential rust from forming.
  16. Wiping down and cleaning exterior of the smoker with a food safe cleaning mixture
  17. Return the pellets removed earlier to the hopper.
  18. Start up the smoker to verify all is in working order.
  19. Educate the pellet smoker owner on best practices for keeping their smokers clean and safe to use!
  20. Line drip tray/diffuser plates with aluminum foil or even premade foil pieces offered by their pellet grill manufacturer (If approved by manufacturer).
  21. Line drip buckets with disposable aluminum or biodegradable liners to make disposal and cleanup easier.
